Take a diagnostic test for both exams and compare percentile performance, not just raw scores. Students comfortable with fast pacing and data/science reasoning may prefer the ACT, while students who prefer adaptive testing and slightly more time per question often prefer the SAT. Most universities treat both exams equally.
