Registration Open: UCEED 2026

The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is a test centre-based examination of 3 hours duration.

Admissions to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur are done through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED). Many institutes also recognize the UCEED Score Card for admissions to their BDes program.

Here’s an overview of the timeline for UCEED 2026 and BDes Admission:

Register for UCEED

  • Candidates should register for appearing in UCEED 2026. Registration can be done only online through the Registration Portal.
  • Registration Fee for SC, ST, PwD and Female Candidates is INR 2,000 & All Other Candidates is INR 4,000.
  • Detailed instructions for the online registration are provided on the registration portal.

Appear for the exam at various test centres 

  • Exam date and time: 18 January 2026, 9.00 am – 12.00 noon.
  • Reporting time: Candidates can report at the examination centre from 7:00 am on Sunday, January 18, 2026, with a printout of the Admit Card and a Valid Original Photo Identity Proof. This is required to record the biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) before appearing for the examination.
  • The identity of the candidates will be verified by invigilators as well as IIT representatives. 
  • Candidates will NOT be allowed to carry any electronic devices (mobile phones, smart phones, watches of any type, calculators, tablets and the like), abacus, slide rule, log books, study material of any type, geometry box, and so on to the examination hall. 
  • Drawing Materials: Candidates must bring their own pencils in a transparent packet. Shades of black colour are permitted. However, sketch pens, color pencils, poster colors and other colouring materials are NOT permitted inside the examination hall. Candidates may bring a writing board of A4 size. 

View results and download score card from the candidate portal

  • Results will be declared on March 06, 2026 and will be available only on the official website (www.uceed.iitb.ac.in). Candidates must use their user login and password (created during registration) to view the results on the webpage.
  • All the candidates who appeared in UCEED 2026 can download their Score Card from March 10, 2026 to July 31, 2026 from the official UCEED 2026 website.
  • All shortlisted candidates will get a common merit rank (All India Rank). All shortlisted candidates are considered as qualified candidates in UCEED 2026.
  • Obtaining a rank in UCEED 2026 does NOT guarantee admission to the BDes programme. Hard copies of the UCEED Score Card will not be available. Hence, they will NOT be sent to qualified candidates by post or email.
  • The responses of the candidates for Part-A of UCEED 2026 will be available for download ONLY until the declaration of the UCEED result. Downloading of Part-A responses will be DISABLED once the UCEED results are declared. 
  • Digital copies of the scorecards will be maintained at the UCEED office for a maximum duration of five years from the date of issue.

UCEED 2026 qualified students apply for BDes programmes 

  • Only UCEED 2026 qualified students can apply for admission to the BDes programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur for the academic year 2026-2027. 
  • The application portal will be active from March 14, 2026 (Saturday), 10:00 Hrs, till April 10, 2026 (Friday), 17:30 Hrs.
  • The common application form is available through the IIT Bombay Admissions Portal. Applicants can fill in their personal particulars and select institutes of their choice by indicating the order of preference.
  • The application can be submitted after paying the application processing fee, uploading digital copies of relevant supporting documents, and the signed copy of the completed application form. The online application form provides detailed instructions on each step of the application process.
  • UCEED and BDes admissions are two different activities. The category-wise rank obtained in UCEED indicates the candidate’s position in the respective category at the time of the result declaration.
  • Seat allocation will be based on the All-India Rank (merit order), reservation category and seat availability in each institute at the time of seat allocation.
  • Candidates may note that the offer of admission made to them during the online seat allocation process is provisional and will be confirmed by the admitting institutes only after the requisite fees are paid, the documents are duly verified, and their formalities are completed. Once the counselling is closed, the entire process of BDes admissions through the UCEED office is considered to be over and no further changes (viz. changing institute etc.) are permitted.
