Overview 

Originally known as the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, NFSU was formally established as a national university on 1 October 2020 through an Act of Parliament. Its mandate is to address the increasing demand for trained forensic professionals who can strengthen the criminal justice system and contribute to evidence-based investigations, policy, and research.

Campuses

NFSU has rapidly expanded its footprint across India and beyond. It operates a network of multiple campuses designed to increase accessibility to forensic education and research:

  1. Gandhinagar (Headquarters) – The first NFSU campus running 46 courses in the eight schools and hosts multiple Centres of Excellence. 
  2. Delhi Campus – The Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science was established in 1972 within the Bureau of Police Research and Development.
  3. Goa Campus – Scenic coastal location in Ponda offering four specialised academic programmes in the niche areas of Forensic Sciences and Cyber security.
  4. Tripura Campus – At present, the campus offers a two-year postgraduate program, a five-year integrated B.Sc.-M.Sc. in Forensic Science, and a five-year integrated B.Tech.-M.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering. 
  5. Bhopal Campus – Presently offering two-year post graduate courses including M.Sc. Forensic Science, M.Sc. Cyber Security and M.Sc. Digital Forensics and Information Security and one Professional Diploma of six months duration in Crime Scene Management. 
  6. Pune Campus (Forensic Academy) – Operates in collaboration with CFSL-Pune, emphasising training and specialised forensic courses like DNA forensics, crime scene management and cybersecurity. 
  7. Guwahati Campus – Strategic North-East hub promoting forensic science education and consultancy for local law enforcement and agencies.
  8. Manipur Campus – Regional centre catering to forensic and allied education with focus on training and capacity building in the North-East. 
  9. Dharwad Campus – First NFSU campus in South India presently offering three specialised academic programs in the niche areas of Forensic Sciences and Cyber Security. 
  10. Bhubaneswar Campus – Offers innovative postgraduate programs that combine academic rigor with practical skills. 
  11. Chennai Campus – Growing campus extending forensic and allied science programs in Tamil Nadu for local and regional students. 
  12. Jaipur Campus – Provides forensic science and investigation training in Rajasthan as part of expanding national footprint. 
  13. Nagpur Campus – Emerging centre of excellence in central India with new forensic and cybersecurity labs and upcoming permanent campus on a 50-acre site. 
  14. Raipur Campus – At present, the Raipur Campus offers specialised programmes including M.Sc. Forensic Science, M.Sc. Digital Forensics and Information Security, and a Professional Diploma in Crime Scene Management. 
  15. Uganda (International Campus) – International extension of NFSU offering forensic science programs and strengthening global collaborations.

Behavioural Forensics B.Sc. Criminology & Forensic Science (UG)CUET‑UG 2026 10+2 (Or its equivalent) in Science, Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Mathematics with at least 55% for General / OBC /EWS Category Candidates and 50% or equivalent for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates. 
Management StudiesBBA–MBA Integrated (UG / Integrated)CUET UG 2026 Passed or appeared in 10+2 (or its equivalent) examination in any stream with at least 60% for General/OBC/EWS Category candidates and 55% or equivalent for SC/ST and PwD category candidates. Candidates appearing in 12th Standard can apply subject to meeting minimum eligibility criteria in the prescribed time limit as decided by the University
Law, Forensic Justice & Policy Studies B.Sc.–LL.B. (Hons.) (UG / Integrated)CLAT 2026Candidate has to qualify CLAT exam and admission is based on merit list of CLAT Score of the admission year and Passed Intermediate / Higher Secondary Board Exam (10+2) in Science Stream or Commerce/Arts Stream with Mathematics or Statistics subject with 50% marks or equivalent (45% or equivalent marks for SC/ST and PWD category) 
Law, Forensic Justice & Policy StudiesLL.B. (Hons., 3‑year) (UG)Merit based Marks of Qualifying Exam Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university with minimum 45% marks in aggregate. For the Academic Year 2026-27 will be based on the scores of the All-India Level/ National Level Admission Tests like CLAT, CUET & JEE.
