NEET UG is the entrance exam for several medical and paramedical programmes:
- Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)
- Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
- Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS)
- Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS)
- Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS)
- Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc. nursing: Military Nursing Service aspirants seeking admission to B.Sc. Nursing Courses being conducted at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals are required to qualify for NEET).
There are still several related healthcare and science career options that do not strictly require a NEET qualification for admission. These include courses like Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Radiology & Imaging Technology, Nutrition and Dietetics, and other paramedical or life-science degrees, where admission is typically based on class 12 marks or other entrance tests rather than NEET.
As per 2025 data, 2,209,318 appeared for the NEET exam, out of which a total of 12,36,531 candidates qualified.
NEET UG 2026 Important Dates
The exam will be held on 03rd May 2026 and the duration of the examination will be 180 minutes (2 PM to 5 PM).
The NEET (UG) 2026 will be conducted in 13 languages i.e. Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

How to apply online
- Register for online application form and note down system generated application number
- Fill up of personal details choosing the question paper medium, examination cities, details of educational qualifications, and upload documents
- Pay the application fee and save the hard copy of the confirmation page for future references.
Exam Pattern
The Test pattern of NEET (UG) – 2026 comprises Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology). The question paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions which must be attempted by the candidates in 180 minutes.

Marking will be done as per following criteria :
- Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Four marks (+4)

NEET Counseling
NEET counselling is the next step that comes after clearing the exam. The NTA will prepare a Merit List/All India Rank and then the seats will be allocated.
