Digital SAT Checklist

This SAT checklist walks you through every step so nothing catches you off guard. Work through each section at your own pace, check items off as you complete them, and arrive at your test center feeling confident and fully prepared.

When You Register

Information & documents needed to complete sign-up

Full legal name (matching your photo ID)
You can also add a preferred first name in your College Board account.
Date of birth, gender, mailing address & phone number
Acceptable photo of yourself
Must closely match how you look on test day. See sat.org/photo for requirements.
Current grade level and high school name
Type of testing device you will use
Personal/school-managed Windows laptop, tablet, Mac laptop, iPad, or school-managed Chromebook.
Payment or fee waiver
Visit sat.org/fee-waivers for eligibility details.
Accept the SAT Testing Rules
Read at sat.org/testing-rules before registering.

Before Test Day

Complete these steps in advance to avoid day-of stress

PREPARE YOUR DEVICE & APP

Download the Bluebook exam app
Download from bluebook.app.collegeboard.org on the device you’ll use on test day.
Sign in to Bluebook and accept the application Testing Rules

PRACTICE

Visit sat.org/practice for free study resources
Take a full-length practice test and build a personalized study plan.
Review practice test results at mypractice.collegeboard.org
Identify your strengths and areas for improvement.

ADMISSION TICKET (5 DAYS BEFORE TEST)

Go to Bluebook and find your SAT under “Your Tests”
Complete exam setup and get your admission ticket
Screenshot, print, or email it to yourself. Changes can be made up to 3 days before your test.

FINAL CHECKS

Confirm your photo ID is acceptable
Check current ID requirements at sat.org/id.
Review the latest SAT Testing Rules at sat.org/terms
Check sat.org/test-center-closings Friday night AND Saturday morning
Confirm your test center is open before you leave home.

What to Bring on Test Day

Pack these items the night before

Fully charged testing device with Bluebook downloaded & exam setup completed
Admission ticket (accessible in Bluebook after exam setup)
You may show it on your phone, but it will be collected before the test starts.
Acceptable photo ID
Confirm requirements at sat.org/id.
Power cord and/or portable charger
Outlets are not guaranteed. Your device must hold a charge for at least 3 hours.
Pen or pencil for scratch work
Do NOT bring paper, your proctor will provide it.
Approved handheld calculator (optional)
Bluebook has a built-in calculator. If you prefer your own, check sat.org/calculator for the approved list.
External mouse (if you use one)
External keyboard – tablets only, NOT laptops (if you use one)

Do NOT Bring on Test Day

These items will be confiscated or cause issues at check-in

Smartwatch or wearable technology (e.g. fitness tracker)Will be collected and held during testing.
Detachable privacy screen
Will be collected and held during testing.
Mobile phone at your desk during testing
You may bring your phone to the test center, but it must be turned in to the proctor.
Bluetooth devices (wireless earbuds, headphones, etc.)
Any other prohibited items

Arrival Time

Plan ahead so you’re not rushed

Plan to arrive by 7:45 a.m.
For most students with a personal or school-managed device.
Arrive by 7:15 a.m. if borrowing a device from College Board
You’ll need extra time to pick up your device, sign in to Bluebook, and complete exam setup.

You’re Ready!

If you’ve made it through this entire checklist, you’re in great shape. You’ve registered on time, practiced with real materials, set up your device, and packed everything you need. On test day, trust your preparation and give it your best effort.
