What is BITSAT
- BITSAT stands for “BITS Admission Test”, a computer-based online test for admission to integrated first-degree programmes (B.E. & B.Pharm.) at BITS Pilani’s three main India campuses: Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa, and Hyderabad.
- Admissions to these programmes are made purely on merit, with BITSAT score being central to candidate’s ranking for offers.

- At K K Birla Goa Campus: B.E. in Chemical, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Instrumentation, Electronics and Computer Engg., Mathematics and Computing, Mechanical, Environmental and Sustainability Engg.
- BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus: B.E. in Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Instrumentation, Mathematics and Computing, Mechanical, Environmental and Sustainability Engg & B. Pharm.
- Dual-degree / 2+2 International Programmes: Based on BITSAT score, candidates may also opt for selected 2+2 joint-collaborative programmes with foreign universities in Australia and USA (e.g., RMIT University; Iowa State University; University at Buffalo; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, etc.) spending initial years at BITS and later years abroad.
Eligibility Criteria
- For B.E. (Except B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engg.): Must secure at least 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), and at least 60% marks individually in each of PCM subjects (including theory + practical).
- For B.Pharm., and B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engg. Programme: Eligibility is similar but allows 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. Aggregate 75% in PCM/PCB, and 60% in individual subjects.
Exam Pattern and Format
- Duration: 3 hours
- Test Structure (130 questions):
- Part I: Physics (30 questions)
- Part II: Chemistry (30 questions)
- Part III: English Proficiency (10 questions) and Logical Reasoning (20 questions)
- Part IV: Mathematics or Biology (For B.Pharm. candidates) (40 questions)
- Marking: +3 marks for each correct answer; –1 for each incorrect; 0 for unattempted.
- The score is made available to the candidate on the screen immediately after the test and thus is designed to be transparent.
- All questions are of objective type MCQs and based on current NCERT syllabus.
Application Process
- A candidate has to complete the application form online at http://www.bitsadmission.com and pay the prescribed fees.
- BITSAT will be conducted in two sessions:
- Fee for 2 sessions- Rs. 5500 – male candidate, Rs. 4500 – female candidate & transgender candidate
- Fee for 1 session- Rs. 3500 – male candidate, Rs. 3000 – female candidate & transgender candidate
- In 2025, the application process began from January to April. 2026 dates are yet to be released.
