Applications Open – VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2026

Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes across the VIT group of institutions, including VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT Amaravati, and VIT Bhopal. The VIT group has grown into one of India’s leading educational institutions and is recognised globally for its academic excellence. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, VIT is ranked 142 in the broad subject area of “Engineering and Technology”.

This year, VIT introduces cutting-edge programs that align with the future of technology:

  • B. Tech in Cyber Security (2+2 with Deakin University, Australia): Through this dual degree, students will begin their studies at VIT Chennai, gaining strong foundations in computer science, network security, and data protection, before progressing to Deakin University, Australia, to complete advanced coursework and research in cybersecurity systems, governance, and digital forensics.

  • B. Tech in Quantum Computing: It combines core computer science foundations like programming, algorithms, data structures, and AI, with advanced quantum concepts such as quantum mechanics, algorithms, cryptography, and machine learning. Students also gain practical experience using leading quantum platforms like IBM Qiskit, Microsoft Quantum Development Kit, and Google Cirq.

Exam Pattern for VITEEE

The question paper will be in English only. All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions, four marks for each correct answer, minus one mark for each wrong answer and zero mark for unanswered / marked for review. 

There will be a total of 125 questions divided into the sections: 

  • Mathematics/Biology (40 questions)
  • Physics (35 questions)
  • Chemistry (35 questions)
  • Aptitude (10 questions)
  • English (5 questions)

The duration of the examination will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Eligibility for VITEEE

  • PCMB/PCM applicants who have attempted Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude (MPCEA) in VITEEE 2026 with 60% aggregate of marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and with not less than 50% in Mathematics in +2/HSC/Intermediate examination are eligible for admission to all B. Tech Programmes.  (A 50% aggregate is sufficient for candidates belonging to SC/ST or from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Northeastern states with valid certificates).

  • PCMB/PCB applicants who have attempted Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude (BPCEA) in VITEEE 2026 or PCB applicants who have attempted Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude (MPCEA) in VITEEE 2026 with 60% aggregate marks in Biology, Physics and Chemistry and with not less than 50% in Biology in +2/HSC/Intermediate examination are eligible for admission to the following programmes only.

    • B.Tech. Biotechnology (VIT – Vellore, VIT – Chennai)
    • B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Bioinformatics), (VIT – Vellore)
    • B.Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering (Biomedical Engineering), (VIT – Vellore)
    • B.Tech. Health Sciences and Technology (VIT – Vellore)
    • B.Tech. Bioengineering (VIT – Bhopal)
    • B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Health Informatics), (VIT – Bhopal)
    • B.Tech. Computer Science & Engineering (Education Technology), (VIT – Bhopal)

Selection Criteria 

  • Selection is based on the rank secured in VITEEE-2026 through Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • Selected candidates can participate in online counseling based on their ranking. They can give options for specific campus, programme and category of fees. 
  • VIT will verify the eligibility of candidates after completing the tuition fee payment on or before the stipulated date. Candidates are required to produce documents while reporting to the campus or as and when asked for, by the Office of Admissions.

  • Last date for online application: 31 March 2026 
  • Dates of VITEEE examination: 28th April – 3rd May 2026 
  • Result Declaration: 2nd week of May 2026
  • Online Counseling: Starts 2nd week of May 2026
