Introduction

Institute of Mathematics and Applications (IMA) began its journey in a room inside the Pathani Samanta Planetarium in Bhubaneswar. In 2008, the institute shifted to its present residential campus built by Tata Steel on a 21-acre site in Bhubaneswar. The campus was inaugurated by former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Over the past two decades, the institute has built a reputation for research, teaching, and nurturing talent in mathematics and related disciplines. IMA continues to focus on advanced learning in mathematics, computing, and emerging areas such as artificial intelligence.

Consistent with its academic vision and objectives, the institute has remained actively engaged in research, teaching, and promoting mathematical talent through specialised programmes, workshops, and training initiatives. The present campus, developed with the support of Tata Steel, provides students with classrooms, computer laboratories, hostel facilities, a library, and research-oriented academic infrastructure.
