About the University
Founded in 1910, Kent State University (KSU) is a major public research university located in Kent, Ohio. The university spans an eight-campus system across Northeast Ohio, serving over 33,000 students and representing more than 100 countries. KSU offers more than 300 degree programs, and is classified by the Carnegie system as an R1 university (“very high research activity”).
The university’s Office of Global Education reports that over 2,100 international students (about 6 % of the main campus population) are enrolled, and the school offers 200+ study-abroad programs in more than 60 countries.

Applying with Fee Waiver – Free Application Day (International Students)
On December 1, 2025, KSU is hosting a Free Application Day for international students.
- Students can apply for free from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM EST on December 1.
- Use code KSUINTLDAY25 (Either via Kent State App OR Common App).
- Application materials can be uploaded later, but the application must be submitted on December 1st to qualify for the fee waiver.
- Important to note: The waiver only applies to international applicants. Applications submitted after the deadline will not receive the waiver. Also, check programme-specific and scholarship deadlines, as some may be earlier.
