France Excellence Charpak Bachelor Scholarship

This programme is designed for Indian students who want to pursue a full time bachelor’s degree programme at one of the French higher education institutions.

Benefits:

The awardees receive the status of French government scholarship holders (Boursier du Government Français) entitling them to following benefits:

  • Monthly living allowance of 860 euros
  • Exemption of visa (if applying from India) and Campus France Procedure fees
  • Student social security and additional health insurance (mutuelle)
  • Assistance in finding affordable student accommodation through Campus France in France (priority access to CROUS residencies, subject to availability)
  • Meal discount at university restaurants with meals at €1
  • Access to social and cultural activities organized by Campus France

The scholarship does not cover:

  • Travel expenses from India to France or within France
  • Any other expenses related to awardee’s stay in France

Eligibility:

  • Be an Indian citizen or hold an OCI card
  • Be 23 years old or younger at the time of application
  • Be currently enrolled or have completed studies at an Indian senior secondary school
  • Applicants who have studied abroad are eligible, but preference will be given to those who have completed their education from an Indian school.
  • Have applied for admission to a French institution prior to applying for the scholarship.
  • Ensure the course takes place in France. If part of your studies (one semester or more) takes place in another country, the scholarship will not cover that period
  • Knowledge of French is an asset but not mandatory to apply for the scholarship
  • The scholarship is available for full-time bachelor’s degree programs in France
  • Students already pursuing a bachelor’s in France can apply for funding for the second or third year

How to apply:

To be considered for the scholarship, you must submit an application on online scholarship platform http://ifi.scholarship.ifindia.in/ along with the scans of following documents:

  • Passport size photograph
  • Copy of the passport
  • Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages).
  • Copy of admission/acceptance letter from the French higher education institution.
  • Scanned copies of marksheet and passing certificate of Higher Secondary School (XII) and Secondary school (X); Grade XII Mid-term results 
  • French language certificate, if any (DELF /DALF)
  • Letter of recommendation (optional)

Evaluation and Selection Procedure:

  • Round 1: Complete applications will be evaluated by the selection committee on the basis of academic excellence, consistency and the quality of the statement of purpose and the overall profile of the applicant. There is no minimum CGPA or percentage required for the scholarship.
  • Round 2: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an Online Interview in April. Applicants should ensure they are available during this period, as the interviews will not be rescheduled for another date.

Last year the deadline to submit the application was 5th March, 2025 and the interview was scheduled between 7th and 25th April, 2025. Dates for 2026 will be updated once released.
