# When do AP Exams take place, and when does registration open?

The main AP examination session takes place in May each year. Registration and ordering arrangements are handled ahead of the examination window, with deadlines depending on the administration and test centre.
Students should start contacting centres well before the examination year, particularly if their school does not offer AP Exams.
For exact dates and current deadlines, [consult the AP Calendar by College Board.](https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/exam-administration-ordering-scores/exam-dates)
