# How should students choose their major or degree subject in Class 11 if they are not yet sure about their career?

Students should begin by identifying the subjects they enjoy, the kinds of problems they like solving and the academic skills they want to develop. They can explore university course pages, introductory lectures, online courses or short projects to understand what studying a subject at university involves.
 However, unlike many US universities, UK undergraduate admissions generally require students to apply for a specific course rather than enter university undecided. Students are therefore expected to have a reasonably clear academic direction when applying through UCAS.
