# How can I strengthen my university application profile? Do coding, projects and extracurricular activities help?

Academic performance remains important, but some universities also consider applicants' interests, achievements and activities.
Students should prioritise activities relevant to their intended field. For example, a Computer Science applicant might learn Python, develop a project or participate in a coding competition. A Design applicant might create a portfolio, while an Economics applicant might undertake a research or data-analysis project.
However, not every Japanese university evaluates extracurricular activities in the same way. Students should check the selection criteria rather than collecting certificates solely to increase their application count.
