# Does taking the SAT guarantee admission to a university or allow students to apply to every country and course?

No. The SAT is one component of an application where accepted or required. Universities may also assess school grades, prerequisite subjects, essays, recommendations, portfolios, interviews, entrance examinations and other requirements. Some programmes, including medicine and design, may have specific admissions procedures that the SAT alone does not fulfil.
