# Can a school certificate confirming English-medium instruction replace a proficiency test?

Sometimes. Many universities waive the requirement if a student has studied in an English-medium school, but the conditions vary; some accept it automatically, others require proof such as an IB English score, GCSE, or IGCSE. This is not a blanket exemption, verify with each university individually.
