# Can an Indian student become a doctor in Japan and eventually obtain Japanese citizenship?

Potentially, but these are separate processes.
To practise medicine in Japan, graduates must satisfy the country's medical licensing requirements, including the relevant national examination and language requirements.
Foreign medical graduates may need to undergo additional eligibility assessments.
Becoming a licensed doctor does not automatically provide permanent residency or citizenship. Students who wish to settle in Japan must separately meet the immigration or naturalisation requirements applicable to their circumstances.
