We invite students aged 15-19 from around the world to use photography or AI art to explore the urgent, layered question of sustainability and how it touches our lives, our communities, and our dreams for the future.

Sustainability Through the Lens: National Photo Essay Competition
Overview
The Sustainability Through the Lens competition, organised by the College Access Program, is more than a contest. It’s a call to look at the world differently, to notice what often goes unseen, and to imagine what a more sustainable future might look like- through your own lens.
Category 1: Real Photos
Theme: The Things We Inherit
Take 3 photos that tell a story about sustainability (including but not limited to):
What we’re doing right: Solar panels, people recycling, community gardens, bike lanes, reusable water bottles.
Where we’re going wrong: Trash everywhere, pollution, wasteful packaging, empty lots that could be green spaces.
Where we see hope: Young people cleaning up, new eco-friendly businesses.
Category 2: AI-Generated Images
Theme: Careers Reimagined
Use any AI of your choice to generate 3 images that re-imagine careers for an eco-friendly future. Ex: A farmer planting seeds using a drone, or a waste collector turning garbage into building materials.
Submission Rules
- You may submit only one entry per category
- Photos/ images must be submitted as .JPG or .PNG
- Do not use any stock photos, copied work, edited work of existing copyrighted material in your submission.
- For real photos, use your phones or cameras. Editing is permitted as long as it doesn’t change the meaning of the photo.
- For AI images, do not imitate specific artists, brands, or styles (e.g., Van Gogh, Pixar, Studio Ghibli).
- Do not submit photos/images that include violence, hate speech, nudity, or inappropriate imagery.
- Do not upload any photos/images that contain text overlays, logos, or watermarks
- Submit only using the official Google Form.
- No resubmissions or edits allowed after submission.
